1. Online Service Requirements

Make Loud Noise uses Zoom for all online sessions. To participate in online lessons, you must meet the following minimum technical requirements:

Required Equipment:

  • Device with working video camera (phone, tablet, or computer)

  • Device with working microphone (built-in device microphone is acceptable)

  • Stable, reliable internet connection meeting Zoom's system requirements

  • Latest version of Zoom installed and updated prior to session start time

  • Zoom account (free account acceptable) - you must be signed in to use Original Sound for Musicians feature

For touring/mobile sessions:

  • Two devices required - one for video call, one for audio playback of tracks.

For home/studio sessions:

  • Computer recommended for optimal experience.

Session Logistics:

  • Lessons start on time and cannot be extended due to Zoom needing to update. Ensure Zoom is updated before your scheduled session time.

  • Session Zoom link will be provided via email when you have booked and paid for your session. If you have not received it by the day before your lesson, text the Studio on 0431 290 060.

  • All devices must be charged prior to session with chargers available during session.

  • Zoom's Original Sound for Musicians must be enabled. Visit Zoom's website for setup instructions.

  • All online sessions are recorded for educational purposes and safety of all parties.

Vocal Analysis Software:

At times, vocal analysis software will be used during sessions. Due to internet latency in Australia, you may be required to record specific exercises or songs and send audio files to your teacher ahead of time. Standard voice recording or voice memo apps on your phone are sufficient.

Service Interruptions:

In the event of Zoom or internet service provider outages, a backup method for completing your session will be agreed upon in your first session. Backup options may include: Phone, Messenger, Teams, or FaceTime.

Technical difficulties on the client side do not constitute grounds for refund or rescheduling.

2. In-Person Service Requirements

Make Loud Noise's physical studio is located at:

Make Loud Noise
The Growlery
"The Old Workshop Office" Suite
Red Star Music
2/156 Abbotsford Road
Bowen Hills/Barrambin, Brisbane/Meeanjin, QLD, 4006

Parking & Transport:

Parking: Available on-street in nearby Allison and Thompson Streets (paid and free options). Do not park in front of Red Star Music or adjacent businesses - vehicles will be towed at owner's expense.

Public Transport: Studio is located between Bowen Hills Station and Albion Station. Buses available at Abbotsford Road Stop 16 Allison Street. Check Translink website for service updates and trackworks.

Punctuality: Abbotsford Road experiences heavy peak-hour traffic. Allow sufficient time for travel, parking, and crossing at lights. Lessons start on time and cannot be extended due to traffic delays.

Late Arrivals: If running late, text the Studio on 0431 290 060.

Studio Environment:

Accessibility: The Studio is located on the ground floor but is not wheelchair accessible.

Studio Decor: The Studio is equipped with anatomical charts, drawings, figures, and objects of curiosity that some people may perceive as having themes related to anatomy or the macabre. Understanding vocal anatomy is essential to the craft. The Studio also contains large mirrors for postural awareness and technique observation.

Alternative: If the studio environment presents concerns, online sessions are available.

Appointments Only: In-person sessions are by appointment only. Do not show up to the Studio without a confirmed appointment.

Session Materials:

You must bring: folder, water bottle, and notebook to all in-person sessions. Audio tracks for your lesson must be provided ahead of time via Dropbox or Google Drive.

3. Recording Policy & Health Requirements

Recording:

All sessions (online and in-person) are recorded for educational purposes and safety of all parties. You may record your session for personal practice use only. Publishing or distributing session recordings without express written permission from Make Loud Noise is prohibited.

Health Requirements:

Substance Disclosure: Drug, alcohol, and prescription medication use must be disclosed before each session as these substances alter vocal function.

Smoking/Vaping/Alcohol:

  • In-person: Do not smoke or vape for at least 2 hours before your lesson or consume alcohol for 12 hours before your lesson.

  • Online: Same as for in-person lessons in addition to not smoking, vaping, or consuming alcohol during your session

Illness: If you are sick with cold or flu symptoms, do not attend in person. Online sessions are available for breathing, theory, or songwriting work if you are not well enough to use your voice.

Violation: Arriving under the influence of recreational drugs or alcohol, or having violated smoking/chemical exposure requirements, will result in immediate lesson termination without refund and may result in service termination.

Repeated Illness: If you are repeatedly unwell, Make Loud Noise reserves the right to request a medical certificate from a GP or Ear, Nose and Throat specialist before continuing lessons. This is required to ensure duty of care obligations are met under professional indemnity insurance requirements. Failure to provide requested medical clearance will result in lesson termination.

4. Client Responsibilities

Punctuality: Lessons start at the scheduled time, not when you arrive. Late arrival does not extend lesson time.

Preparation: After your first lesson, you are expected to arrive hydrated, warmed up, and with a specific focus for the session.

Materials: Bring folder, water bottle, and notebook to all sessions. Provide audio tracks ahead of time via Dropbox or Google Drive.

Practice: You are responsible for your own craft. Nothing substitutes for practice between sessions.
